Ultra-Black Coatings
Ultra-black spacecraft coating
Quantum Dusk™
Quantum Dusk™ is an ultra-matte black inorganic refractory nanoparticle coating for metals, plastics, and ceramics in optical and space environments. Its water-based ceramic nanoparticle matrix is designed for atomic oxygen erosion resistance, UV exposure, thermal cycling, clean handling, fast application, and a hard adherent film with 2.3% hemispherical reflectance, 5H gouge hardness, and silicone-free, PFAS-free chemistry.

Usage Guide
Processing
- Clean substrates before coating; optional light abrasion can improve adhesion on polished metals.
- Apply with HVLP spray equipment using two to three light cross-hatch coats.
- Cure at 60 C for one hour or ambient dry for 24 hours.
Qualification
- SDS identifies Quantum Dusk™ as not classified as hazardous under CLP in the referenced SDS version.
- Contains isopropanol in the SDS composition; use appropriate coating ventilation and handling practices.
